Zoom! Teeth Whitening Las Vegas

Las Vegas Zoom! teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure performed by a dentist that lightens and removes stains from discolored teeth. Dr. Bu-Gordon and her staff at Better Smiles Dental are your local Zoom! Whitening specialists.

Who Needs Teeth Whitening Treatment?

Just about anyone who is unhappy with the color of his or her teeth is a candidate for teeth whitening. Most people associate yellow teeth with staining, but some people just have a natural yellow tint thanks to genetics. The natural coloring of your teeth is most affected by the dentin. Dentin lies just below the enamel, protecting the nerve. Dentin is naturally yellow in color. Your enamel, the outer layer of the tooth, may be thick or thin and unfortunately, this is determined by your genes. Thin enamel allows more dentin to show through, causing the teeth to appear yellow even if they are sparkling clean.

Outside factors can make teeth appear even more yellow. The enamel of the tooth is porous, meaning stains can get into those tiny holes and be stuck there, no matter how many times a day you brush. Food, drink, tobacco products and poor oral hygiene can make the problem worse. Some medications such as tetracycline can also cause discoloration of teeth. The good news is that whether it’s your genes or your lifestyle that have caused discoloration, Zoom! Whitening can help.

If you are interested in teeth whitening, Dr. Gordon will schedule you for a consultation so that she can examine your mouth and ensure that you can benefit from a Zoom! Whitening treatment. There are some people who are ineligible for Zoom! Whitening including children, pregnant women or lactating mothers, people suffering from immune diseases or disorders, patients taking certain medications including chemotherapy, and those who suffer from light sensitivities.

How Does Zoom! Whitening Work?

It used to be that the only way to whiten teeth was to soak them in a tray of hydrogen peroxide over the course of several weeks. The treatment was time-consuming, inconvenient and harsh. Zoom! Whitening gets its name because it’s a much faster and convenient way to whiten teeth. A gel solution of hydrogen peroxide is still used to whiten the teeth, but Zoom! Whitening kicks it up a notch. The effects of the gel are sped up by a special lamp that activates the solution and helps it to penetrate the surface of the tooth, while gently polishing the teeth to a beautiful finish.

The entire procedure takes about one hour from start to finish. Initial preparation for Zoom! Whitening takes about 20 minutes followed by three 15 minute bleaching sessions.

What Are The Results of Zoom! Teeth Whitening?

For yellow or brown-tinted teeth, Zoom! Whitening can get teeth up to eight shades whiter than when they started. Some people never need another treatment, while others may choose to return for future visits

.

In order to keep your smile white and bright after teeth whitening, Dr. Buda-Gordon recommends maintaining the good habits of brushing and flossing the teeth twice a day. She also can provide patients with special Zoom! Whitening home products to help maintain a bright white smile.

Is Zoom! Whitening Safe?

Zoom! Whitening is gentle, effective and safe. In fact, the only safe way to whiten teeth is under the supervision of a dentist like Dr. Buda-Gordon. Because of  Zoom! Whitening involves the use of a lamp, patients are required to wear safety glasses and all of the soft tissue of the mouth will be covered and protected.
